Church in Syracuse – Cathedral of the Nativity

The church in Syracuse more important is the Cathedral, which it is at the high of Siracusa, and it was dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The church is part of the property protected by UNESCO and outside it has two different styles of baroque and rococo while inside alternates parts dating back Siceliot, Middle Ages, built by the Byzantines.
The interior is divided into aisles and chapels that have a classic style and decorated very typical of the Baroque. The church has a strong religious significance and holds holds statues, relics and remains of saints, martyrs and noble Syracusan, but very important is the fact that the cathedral was built the Doric temple dedicated to Athens.
