The Massimo Vincenzo Bellini is a theatre in Catania, inaugurated in 1890 and built on a project by Carlo Sada, a Milanese architect. In its hundred years of existence, this beautiful theatre has seen many of the greatest artists of the twentieth century perform on its stage such as Luigi Mancinelli, Leopoldo Mugnone, Gino Marinuzzi, Vittorio Gui, Antonio Guarnieri, Gianandrea Gavazzeni, Sergiu Celibidache, Georg Solti, Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Muti, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Alain Lombard, Amelita Galli-Curci, Toti Dal Monte, Callas, Tebaldi, Caballé, Scotto, Riccia Relli, la Freni, De Lucia, Pertile, Schipa, Gigli, Corelli, Kraus, Pavarotti, Del Monaco, Di Stefano, Bergonzi, Galeffi, Bechi, Taddei, Cappuccilli, Gobbi, Nucci, Pasero, Ruggero Raimondi and represented the most beautiful masterpieces by Mozart and Berg but also many contemporary works.From an architectural point of view, the Bellini follows the neo-baroque style and enjoys an orchestra composed of 105 elements and a choir of 84 elements. Inside, the hall has a frescoed ceiling by the painter Ernesto Bellandi and is made up of four tiers of boxes and a gallery.
