The Cathedral of Assumption, It is the principal church in Messina and is located in the historic center and in June 1947 Pope Pius XII elevated the church to the rank of minor basilica.
It features a WOW salient façade that is a succession of sloping places at different heights, It topped with battlements and a basilica consisting of three naves with three gates that open and end with Gothic transept and three abisdi.
The three naves are separated by two rows of thirteen columns each supporting large arches and capitals, in cement they are of different style and form.
The bell tower also called clock tower dates back to after the earthquake 1908 and it is up about 60 meters, the roof is on the cusp and on all sides there are couples of mullioned windows with round arch containing all the animations of the watch, jewel mechanical.
