The G. Caruso Regional University Library in Catania opened in 1755 and is the library of the oldest university in Sicily. It is located on the main floor of the Siculorum Gymnasium in Piazza Università and the first nucleus of book heritage was donated to it by Giambattista Caruso. Over time, this library was enriched by many other distinguished figures who, collectively, represent a rich and diverse documentary and literary heritage for the study of the history of culture, ideas, sciences, and institutions. Today, the library also features an Internet station, reading rooms and a music auditorium that allow this building to be open to the public.
