Catania – Botanical Garden

An educational green area in Catania with unique scents and colours of its plants is the Botanical Garden, built in 1858 as a site for experimentation and acclimatization of new species.

This green area is located in the heart of the city and extends over an area of about 16,000 sqm. Inside there are many varieties of plants including ‘succulents’, ‘palms’ and ‘Sicilian wild plants’, but also a section dedicated to the bird population.

The Botanical Garden of Catania is administered by the Department of Botany of the University of Catania. The Officine Culturali organizes guided tours of the building every day from 9:00 to 17:00, for information call 0957102767 or 3349242464.
